Nepal Premier League Trophy Unveiled Ahead of Tournament Kickoff

The much-anticipated Nepal Premier League (NPL) is set to commence on November 30, 2024, and excitement is building as the inaugural edition of this franchise-based cricket tournament approaches. On November 25, the NPL trophy was unveiled at the iconic Dharahara premises in Kathmandu, marking a significant milestone for Nepali cricket.

A Historic Moment for Nepali Cricket

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, alongside marquee players from the eight participating teams, unveiled the stunning trophy, which symbolizes a new era for Nepali cricket. During the event, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the significance of the day, describing it as a pivotal moment in the history of the sport in Nepal. The NPL promises to bring a new level of excitement and professionalism to the cricketing scene, offering a platform for both local talent and international stars to showcase their skills.

A Trophy Inspired by Mount Everest

One of the unique features of the NPL trophy is a stone brought from Kalapaththar, a renowned viewpoint near Mount Everest, located at an altitude of 5,545 meters in the Solukhumbu region. The inclusion of this stone not only enhances the trophy’s symbolic value but also ties it to Nepal’s proud heritage and natural beauty, further elevating the prestige of the tournament.

Upgrades to Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground

As part of the preparations for the NPL, significant upgrades are being made to the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The ground is undergoing a complete transformation, with a newly revamped outfield, a modern digital scoreboard, and fresh sight screens being installed. Additionally, new practice pitches have been added, and the boundary has been expanded to meet international standards. These improvements aim to ensure that the NPL is played in a world-class environment, enhancing the experience for both players and spectators alike.
