Chitwan’s Imposing Batting Performance
After being put in to bat first, Chitwan set an imposing target of 162 runs. Their innings were propelled by the dynamic batting of Ravi Bopara, who scored a vital 51 runs off just 38 balls, featuring four boundaries and two sixes. Bopara’s innings was well-supported by captain Kushal Malla, who added 38 off 23 balls, striking four powerful sixes in the process. This fourth-wicket partnership of 68 runs was instrumental in stabilizing Chitwan’s innings after a shaky start, as they found themselves at 46-3 during the powerplay.
Pokhara’s Disastrous Start and Early Collapse
In response, Pokhara Avengers were dismissed for a mere 74 runs in just 13.2 overs, marking the lowest score of the tournament so far. The collapse began with Sohail Tanveer, who made a spectacular impact in the first over, taking three crucial wickets, including that of Pokhara’s captain, Kushal Bhurtel, for a golden duck. The onslaught continued as Rijan Dhakal bowled a hat-trick in the fourth over, reducing Pokhara to a dismal 6-6 and leaving them in complete disarray.
Resilient Effort by Joshi and Chitwan’s Bowling Dominance
Amidst the chaos, Narayan Joshi fought valiantly, scoring 30 runs off 24 balls, with three boundaries and two sixes. However, his efforts were not enough to salvage the innings. Chitwan’s bowling attack was relentless, with Tanveer and Dhakal claiming three wickets each and Luc Benkenstein adding to the tally with three scalps of his own. Deepak Bohora also contributed with one wicket, ensuring Pokhara’s batting lineup was thoroughly dismantled.
